This year marks the 45th anniversary of the birth of AMG, which is Mercedes-Benz's wholly owned high-performance sub-brand.
Since its foundation in 1967, AMG has been responsible for the company's motorsport activities and the development of Mercedes' high-end sports cars like the SLS and numerous AMG variants of its mainstream models that compete with rivaling proposals from BMW's M division and Audi's Quattro GmbH.
